SHUNSHUN

Exhibition at Espace Alma M from July 6 to October 5, 2025: Wednesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Opening on Sunday, July 6 at 2 p.m. and saxophone and voice concert at the Abbatiale of Romainmotier  at 5 p.m. free admission

Closing on Sunday, October 5 with concert/lecture at 5 p.m. at the Abbatiale, of Romainmotier  organist/composer Ezko Kikoutchi on her piece: “Prayer”

Shunshun is a Japanese artist whose work I was lucky enough to discover in an exhibition dedicated to The Sea in Hechimé in Japan in February 2024.

Trained as an architect, he changed his life after the 2011 earthquake to devote himself entirely to drawing.

With sensitivity and economy of means, a 038mm midnight-blue ballpoint pen and paper, his work transports us into a meditative and poetic world. An eulogy of the shadow through a line that is sometimes suspended, sometimes pencilled, where the light is that of the paper.

SHINYA YAMADA

Sunday 15th September 2024 from 11am

The Artistic Residency Alma M in Romainmôtier invites you to the opening of the Japanese artist SHINYA YAMADA.

Born in a famous Kimono makers family in Kyoto, Shinya Yamada works with silks, washi and traditional pigments unique to Japanese culture. Anchored in eastern spirituality, his pieces invite us to introspection and meditation.

At 5pm, Le Cercle Suisse-Japon organizes a concert with Masako Ohta inspired by haikus dedicated to “Tsukimi”, the Full Moon celebration.

Isabelle de La Touche and Alma M association invite you to discover the work achieved by the Kyoto calligrapher, Hiroshi Ueta. Known for his unique mastery of ink, he will present pieces made in situ during his month-long residency.

A live calligraphy performance at “La Maison Des Moines”, Echoes of ink, will celebrate the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan as well as the sistership between Romainmôtier and Nagaoka.

BEKHBAATAR ENKHTUR

Opening on July 2 2023 from 11am

Isabelle de La Touche invites you to discover the work of the young artist from Mongolia Bekhbaatar Enkhtur whose artistic research focuses on the symbolism of animals in his own culture together with the concept of impermanence by using fragile materials.

Practicing modeling since childhood, he chooses to work with beeswax applied on a metal skeleton: a moment of intense rebirth.
